Diego Simeone says while Atletico Madrid are “delighted” to be top of La Liga after beating Levante on Saturday, “we must continue growing”.
Another late contribution from Thomas Partey handed Los Colchoneros all three points, which were enough to see them replace Barcelona atop La Liga, but the Coach was quick to remind his side of their responsibilities after the game
“The changes gave us what were needed to win the game,” he said.
“They made it difficult for us and we played more on impulse than our game.
“We’re delighted to be top. Being top shows me that we have good numbers, but we must continue growing and working on the things we need to improve.
“I have no obligation to start anyone. I go by what my players do in training and games.
“The best way to improve is to have competition.
“[Augusto Fernandez and Matias Kranevitter] are welcome, but they know they have to work in order to play in this team, like the rest of the squad.
“[On substituting Koke], the change was a technical decision. He didn’t have any physical problems.”
