Marcelino calls for Villarreal calm

Marcelino has insisted that Villarreal are going “game by game” ahead of Sunday’s trip to Deportivo La Coruna in La Liga.

The Yellow Submarine moved back into the top four courtesy of their 1-0 win against arch-rivals Valencia on New Years’ Eve and Celta Vigo’s back-to-back defeats, bu5 the Coach maintains his side must keep their feet on the ground.

“We go to Riazor, where [Depor] have only lost one match, which was against Sporting in week four,” he said at a Press conference.

“Great teams have played there [and failed to win]. We expect a tough game, with [Depor] adopting a very clear and organised approach and great speed on the counterattack.

“You need to have challenges in life and pass them, but I still think we have to go game by game.

“Five days ago, it seemed we were going to lose, yet now it seems we should be in the Champions League.

“It shouldn’t be one or the other [at this stage of the season].”
