‘Las Palmas know Granada importance’

Las Palmas Coach Quique Setien believes his players fully understand the stakes as they host relegation rivals Granada.

Granada lead Las Palmas by a point near the foot of the table and Setien told a Press conference that their visit to Gran Canaria is a fixture of great importance.

“We’ve taken all means and the necessary conviction to take the game forward because we are aware of its importance,” Marca quotes Setien as saying.

“We’ll try to minimize their potential with the ball, and when we have to defend, be consistent.”

Setien did note, however, that he is a little troubled by the mind-set of some of his players, in light of what may be riding on the match, and confirmed Jonathan Viera would be involved after a disciplinary issue.

“In a game of such responsibility, it scares me a little that there may be a lack of confidence,” he admitted.

“Viera? I’m not vindictive. He made a mistake, he’s paid for it and that’s that. It was an isolated incident.”

Sergio Araujo may miss out with a muscle problem and with the transfer window days from opening, Setien was asked about additions, including Thievy Bifouma, who he described as an ‘interesting option,’ but warned against too many arrivals.

“I can only play 11 players, I have 24 in the squad, for possible signings players must first be found, and that’s a little complex,” he explained.
