Esteban Granero expects Jose Mourinho to one day return to the Real Madrid bench and predicts it will be a successful reunion.
Mourinho has since he left Chelsea in December been touted as a replacement for under-fire Rafa Benitez and Real Sociedad midfielder Granero, who played under Mourinho at Santiago Bernabeu, understands the speculation despite the Portuguese leaving on bad terms.
“It’s natural to link a Coach in the world’s elite with a club on the same level. Mourinho and Madrid have been united once and I’m convinced he will return and it will be good for everyone,” he told Marca.
“Madrid aren’t at their best and I think we have to try to exploit that. It’s also true that Madrid are almost invincible, because they have the resources to turn the match in their favour at any time.
“[Real Sociedad] have to stand apart from speculation over our opponent. In my opinion, Benitez is a Coach who has the confidence of his club and has to be given time. We’re half-way through the season and evaluations are best done at the end.”
