Rafinha targets Olympics return

Rafinha hopes to be fit to play at next summer’s Olympics, and compares Barcelona teammates Lionel Messi and Neymar.

The midfielder is recovering from a serious knee injury and isn’t expected to play again this season, with AS reporting he told Brazilian publication O Globo that his aim is the Rio de Janeiro Olympics.

“I had an operation three months ago. I’ll start running in January and in March, I’ll return to the team,” he revealed, later adding he would like to one day play for Flamengo.

“I dream of being in the Olympics but I need more minutes with Barca to be in the squad for the Games.”

Rafinha was asked the inevitable Neymar or Messi question and picked the latter, but expects the former to one day succeed his teammate.

“I’m a fan of Neymar, but I have to admit that Messi is from another planet. In the future Neymar will be the best in the world, but today it is Messi,” he acknowledged.
