Sevilla linked with Spurs defender

Sevilla are weighing up the possibility of a return to the Sanchez Pizjuan for central defender Federico Fazio in the January transfer window.

The Argentine, 28, has fallen out of favour at White Hart Lane after joining the Premier League outfit in summer 2014 for a reported €8m, but his situation has gradually worsened with the acquisitions of Toby Alderweireld and Kevin Wimmer restricting his playing time.

Fazio’s only appearance this campaign came in a Capital One Cup defeat to Arsenal and he would welcome a move back to his former club, where he spent seven years and picked up Europa League, Copa del Rey and Supercopa de Espana honours.

Marca reports that Sevilla boss Unai Emery will look to take advantage of Fazio’s exile as he is desperate to shore up his back line, with injuries to Nico Pareja, Marco Andreolli and Daniel Carizzo having left him short on defensive cover.
