Second Madrid appeal rejected

Real Madrid have seen their second appeal for Copa del Rey reinstatement rejected by Spain’s Administrative Tribunal for Sport (TAD).

Los Blancos took their claim to a tribunal after they were knocked back by both the RFEF’s Competition Committee and Appeals panel, but their expulsion now looms large, having exhausted all the sporting avenues available to them.

“The Court, having studied the arguments of the appellant and documents received from the Federation, has agreed not to grant the injunction [to temporarily suspend their ban] requested by the club as the requirements demanded by the law in force have not been met, although the above shall not under any circumstances be considered an in-depth judgement on the right to appeal,” read a statement issued by TAD.

Madrid, who maintain they were not officially notified of Denis Cheryshev’s ineligibility against Cadiz last Wednesday, could yet take their case to the civil courts in the same manner as Elche, who had an appeal to overturn last season’s relegation to La Segunda handled by the National Court.
