Madrid resigned to Copa expulsion?

Real Madrid have hinted that they will accept their Copa del Rey expulsion after confirming they plan to refund tickets sold for their second leg against Cadiz.

Los Blancos were knocked back by Spain’s Administrative Tribunal for Sport on Friday after they fielded an ineligible player in the suspended Denis Cheryshev last week, and their latest statement suggests they have come to terms with the decision.

“The Administrative Tribunal for Sport has dismissed the injunction requested by the Real Madrid regarding the decisions of the disciplinary bodies of the Spanish Football Federation in relation to the first leg of the knockout phase in the Copa del Rey,” it began.

“The club respect the court’s decision, which means that the game cannot be played as scheduled.

“Real Madrid inform with immediate effect that we will proceed to refund the cost of tickets purchased for the game.”
