Unsettled Barcelona defender Alex Grimaldo is reportedly on the verge of agreeing a January switch to Benfica.
According to Radio Catalunya, a €1m deal for the left-back will be struck by the end of Friday, with La Blaugrana unable to demand much more due to the player’s contract expiring at the end of the season.
Benfica have been a prolific destination for Barca players in the past, Nolito and Jeffren being the most recent examples.
Grimaldo, meanwhile, has made no secret of his unhappiness at Camp Nou after claiming he was not on speaking terms with Luis Enrique in October.
The 20-year-old, who has yet to debut for the first team, despite his perceived potential, is also believed to have rejected a loan move to Levante last summer, a stunt which did not impress the Coach.
