Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre Ter Stegen doesn’t know the condition of teammate Neymar but hopes he’s back playing quickly.
Neymar suffered a minor groin injury in training prior to the Catalans’ final Champions League group game, a 1-1 draw with Bayer Leverkusen in which Ter Stegen started.
“It’s the Coach’s decision [to use him in Europe and Claudio Bravo in the League]. All I can do is give 100% on the pitch. That’s what’s important to me and nothing else,” he said after the match, AS reports.
“I’m in good condition and it’s been another day playing 90 minutes, so I’m happy. We’ll see how it goes in the next few weeks.
“I don’t have a preference [for a Round of 16 opponent]. They’re all big teams, and it will be very, very difficult in the next round.”
Regarding Neymar, Ter Stegen confirmed he hadn’t discussed the situation with the forward, and his knowledge of the issue was limited to Press reports.
“I don’t know how he is. I haven’t talked to him, but hopefully it’s not as bad as I’ve read in the newspapers. I hope he returns very soon,” the German added.
