Barcelona will be without Neymar for their Club World Cup semi-final, the forward’s father and agent has confirmed.
Neymar was injured in training on Tuesday and sat out Barca’s final Champions League group game, which ended in a draw with Bayer Leverkusen, due to a minor groin injury.
“It’s a grade two injury like any other,” Neymar Sr told ESPN Brazil, according to AS.
“He’ll be off the pitch for a week, at least. He won’t play the first match of the Club World Cup. He’ll be in the final. Barca are working to get him back as quickly as possible.”
Barca face either Club America of Mexico or China’s Guangzhou Evergrande on December 17 in their first Club World Cup game, with the final held on December 20.
The Catalans also face Deportivo La Coruna on Saturday, with Neymar set to miss the visit of the Galicians to Camp Nou.
