Costa: Atleti return? You never know…

Diego Costa didn’t rule out returning to Atletico Madrid, pointing to the example of Filipe Luis, who also joined Chelsea and then went back to Vicente Calderon.

Costa appeared on Onda Cero’s Al Primer Toque and was asked if he could see himself one day wearing Atletico colours again.

“Well, you never know. Life always has its turns. Look where Filipe is,” AS reports the Spain international as saying.

“I wish all the best to Atletico and I’ll always be a supporter.”

It was put to Costa that Chelsea could face Atletico in the Champions League this season as both teams made it through the group stages, but he was pleased they can’t meet in the next round after topping their respective groups.

“That’s for the best. Atletico’s an uncomfortable team to play. I wish them well. I’d hope to play them in the final,” he continued.

“That would be nice, if I could choose, because I’d rather play Atleti as rarely as possible.”

Costa also considered his situation with the national team and admitted he has to improve his form to keep the faith of Vicente Del Bosque.

“I have to do better for the Coach to call me because if I don’t, I’ll give way to those who are doing better,” he acknowledged.

“I have to work, I have to fight. I still have time to improve [before Euro 2016] and I hope I can do it.”
