Benfica Coach Rui Vitoria felt the ‘details made the difference’ as his side lost to Atletico Madrid and missed out on topping their Champions League group.

The Portuguese club led Group C prior to kick off at the Estadio da Luz but Atleti took a 2-1 win back to Spain to, in theory, get a better draw in the next round.

“We were pushing Atletico but we didn’t manage to score. The second goal was a blow,” Vitoria admitted, Marca reports.

“We had a great attitude, fighting for every ball, but the details made the difference. Atleti were very good defensively, and had the determination to win.”
