Lionel Messi isn’t in the Barcelona squad for the Copa del Rey second leg against Villanovense on Wednesday night.
It had been speculated that the Argentine could be included as he continues his recovery from a two-month injury lay-off, but Luis Enrique has declined to call Messi into the group.
Also rested are Gerard Pique, Ivan Rakitic, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba, with three Barca B players included to make up the numbers.
Sergi Samper, Gerard Gumbau and Aitor, who were each in the squad for the first leg, a goalless draw, remain with the group.
Marc-Andre Ter Stegen, said on Tuesday to be a doubt for the match due to a knee injury, isn’t included, with Claudio Bravo and Jordi Masip the goalkeepers.
