Vela ‘waiting to hear’ about MLS

Carlos Vela’s agent has confirmed interest in the Real Sociedad forward from MLS outfit Colorado Rapids but denied the move was definite.

Vela had been reported as being close to moving to the United States but Eduardo Hernandez told Fox Sports that it wasn’t as straightforward as that.

“In his case, we’re waiting on something happening. The MLS have a say, when a club registers interest in a player, there is the right of the first approach,” Marca quotes Hernandez as saying.

“This is what has happened with Colorado. They have a right to be present, and the same right can be transferred to another club. We want to hear from them, but that doesn’t mean he’ll go.”

Hernandez went on to explain why Vela may be tempted into quitting La Liga for the United States.

“You have to understand that Carlos has spent 10 years playing in Europe, far from his family, and why the USA is an alternative,” Hernandez argued.

“But that doesn’t mean it is his immediate future. It can be now or in two or three years. We don’t know yet.

“There is still a lot to look at but we’re of the philosophy of not closing doors. We don’t want to miss out on options for Carlos and that is why we’re listening.”
