Madrid in shock Pep swoop?

Real Madrid have reportedly made a late swoop for Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola to replace Rafa Benitez next season.

Despite having seemingly agreed to take over Manchester City once his contract in Bavaria expires in June, ARA is now claiming that Los Blancos have made their interest in the Coach known.

Benitez’s position at the helm remains on a knife edge, irrespective of Florentino Perez’s pleas, but any move for Guardiola would not be warmly received by Madrid fans.

The 44-year-old managed Barcelona between 2008 and 2012, winning two La Ligas and two Champions Leagues other silverware, but he has said on more than one occasion that he would never deflect to their arch-rivals.

Such has been the City speculation that Guardiola called off his usual pre-match Press conference on Friday.
