Marcelino admitted Villarreal’s 1-1 draw with Eibar at El Madrigal on Sunday left a “bad taste” in his mouth.
The Yellow Submarine wasted a golden opportunity to move clear of Celta Vigo and Valencia in the race for fourth as they were forced to settle for Jaume Costa’s late equaliser.
“The feeling of the draw is not a good one,” he said after the game.
“If you don’t win at home, it leaves a bad taste in your mouth and we’re sad about not winning.
“It was a good opportunity for us as we we’re playing at home and [Saturday’s] results [went our way].
“We especially lacked organisation in defence. We went out to exploit their style of play, but they caused us problems in return.
“Their goal came from a moment of doubt and lack of coordination on our part.
“Ultimately, after a crazy game, a draw is only fair.”
