Krychowiak: Furious at Ronaldo record

Grzegorz Krychowiak revealed he was ‘furious’ when he heard about Cristiano Ronaldo’s excellent record against Sevilla and vowed not to let him score again.

Ronaldo indeed drew a blank as Los Rojiblancos took a 3-2 win with goals from Ciro Immobile, Ever Banega and Fernando Llorente, while it was Sergio Ramos and James Rodriguez on target for Real Madrid.

“When I read Cristiano had scored 19 goals against Sevilla I was furious. I went onto the pitch like a bull, foaming at the mouth,” AS quotes the Poland international telling a publication in his homeland.

“I repeated to myself ‘it’s impossible he will score again.’ Last year, he scored twice against us when I was out with a broken nose but this time I could stop him.”

Krychowiak was the Sevilla captain when Los Blancos visited Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan but he added the armband didn’t alter how he approached the game.

“I didn’t feel pressure. It was an honour but it didn’t change the way I play,” he confirmed.

“I’m growing as a player in La Liga, which is the most demanding League for a defensive midfielder like me because we can’t only look at what’s happening behind us.

“We have to be quick and agile because our opponents are as well, and more technical. You’re playing Madrid and Barcelona, who are very technically advanced. I want to play against these teams every Sunday.”
