Spain PM: Ronaldo for Ballon d’Or

Spain’s Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy has admitted that he “would give” the 2015 FIFA Ballon d’Or to Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Real Madrid forward is expected to go toe-to-toe with Barcelona’s Lionel Messi for the eighth year running at January’s gala in Zurich, and the politician made no secret of which superstar he was backing.

“This year, I’d give the Ballon d’Or to Cristiano [Ronaldo],” he told Cadena SER.

“[On the Pique boos], Pique defends the [Spain] jersey as best he can, so we should support him.

“[Iker] Casillas told me he wanted to win the European Championship next year.”
