Real Oviedo boss Sergio Eger has revealed that Michu is on the verge of joining his side’s local rivals UD Langreo of La Tercera.
The 29-year-old mutually terminated his contract with Swansea City earlier in the week, just two years after scoring 22 goals, firing the Welsh side to the League Cup and making his Spain debut, and he is set to relaunch his career under his brother’s guidance.
“Michu’s close [to joining],” the Coach told El Super Lunes.
“Michu’s a great player. That he terminated his contract with Swansea to join Langreo is a surprise, but it’ll be good to have him around.
Michu’s brother and Langreo trainer Hernan Perez added: “He has recovered from his ankle problem and now needs to recover mentally.
“He’s now able to play football. We only expect to get five games out of him, but even that would be great.”
