Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo has confessed that his Barcelona rival Neymar is “maybe” one of the best young players in the world.
The No 7 was quizzed by BT Sport on whom he felt were the biggest prospects breaking onto the international stage, and he showed humility to single out the Brazilian as one of his prized quartet, despite his Blaugrana roots.
“You see many players with potential, I will mention [Martin] Odegaard of Madrid for example, at 16 he’s still young but you can see he’s a very good player,” he said.
“[Eden] Hazard for example, the No 7 of Manchester [Memphis] Depay is a good player too, [Paul] Pogba and maybe Neymar.”
“For me, [La Liga and the Premier League] are the best Leagues in the world.
“In England there are more honest players, they are faster and stronger than here, but here they are more technical.
“It’s different, but it’s great to have the opportunity to play in both. I think they are great, if you see in the Champions League, there are always Spanish and English teams in the semi-finals.”
To watch the full interview tune into BT Sport Europe at 10pm this Sunday. ‘Ronaldo’ is in cinemas, on DVD, Blu-Ray and available to buy or rent on BT TV on 9 November.
