Unai Emery admitted Sevilla “didn’t deserve anything” from Saturday’s 2-1 defeat to Villarreal in La Liga.
The Andalucians fell eight points behind the Champions League places after they succumbed to goals from Mario Gaspar and Cedric Bakambu, despite Fernando Llorente’s consolation effort, and the Coach had no complaints with the result.
“The feelings are ones of negativity,” he said after the game.
“We knew [Villarreal] would be difficult opponents and had one of La Liga’s best defences.
“You need a lot of intensity and ability to hurt them, and they’re things we didn’t have.
"If you don’t eat in the League then you go hungry. The Champions League is great, but the League is most important.
“We needed to maintain our high demands and work our hardest, but we didn’t [on Saturday].
“We can win, draw or lose, but we didn’t deserve anything.”
