Masip: Barca played well

Jordi Masip believes Barcelona were unlucky not to have beaten Villanovense during Wednesday’s goalless draw in the Copa del Rey last 32.

The Cup holders failed to break down the minnows, leaving everything still to play for ahead of the return fixture at Camp Nou in December, but the goalkeeper feels his fellow fringe players created enough chances to take control of the tie.

“It’s always important to keep a clean sheet,” he said after the game.

“We worked well defensively but must congratulate Villanovense, who had a very good game.

“The pitch also affected us as the ball didn’t bounce well, but that’s no excuse.

“I don’t think it was a bad game for us. We had chances but couldn’t take them.

“We expected Villanovense to press up high. We’ll have to settle the tie at home.”
