Diego Simeone warned Atletico Madrid’s rivals his side “are growing individually and collectively” after their 4-0 win against Astana in the Champions League.
Goals from Saul Niguez, Jackson Martinez and Oliver Torres, along with Denys Dedechko putting through his own net, fired Los Colchoneros to the top of Group C on Wednesday, but the Coach believes his team can get even better.
“I’m happy for the victory and because we’ve moved top of a group which, furthered by Galatasaray’s win, is difficult,” he said after the game.
“Despite the many changes made, we applied ourselves and worked together well, but the return match will be difficult.
“The team are growing individually and collectively. I saw a good match from Carrasco and Saul, who’s a very complete player.
“[Jackson Martinez] is important for us and even more so when he scores.
“I drew positives [from the match]. Those who played gave a 100 percent, which is appreciated more in these types of games.”
