Angel Di Maria felt Real Madrid sat back against Paris Saint-Germain but didn’t criticise his former team for it as ‘every Coach has a philosophy.’
Rafa Benitez was accused of being a defensive Coach in the lead-up to the Champions League encounter, a game that featured Di Maria facing one of his former sides.
“PSG had many chances to win the game. We did it against one of the four best teams in Europe. The important thing is to be able to pull together. ” Di Maria said, AS reports, after the goalless draw.
“It was a special game for me. It’s more than a year since I left Madrid. Being against my former teammates was special although it wasn’t good for me.”
Di Maria was replaced shortly after the hour mark and the brief interview concluded when he was asked if he felt Madrid were sitting deep.
“Yes, late in the game. We were attacking more and Madrid were deep, very defensive,” he replied.
“Every Coach has their philosophy.”
