Sevilla Coach Unai Emery acknowledges Premier League side Manchester City have deeper pockets but says ‘La Liga has the better results.’
The sides meet in Manchester on Wednesday and Emery told a Press conference that there is a large difference between the clubs and their respective Leagues, and that he isn’t thinking about the injury to Sergio Aguero, who misses the game.
“City are a top team. The media interest and the economic dimension of the Premier League is better but the Spanish teams have had better results,” he said, AS reports.
“We’re thinking about the XI City might have. We don’t think about those who aren’t who aren’t involved and that includes players on our side. City have a great team with tremendous talent.
“Jesus Navas? I was with him here for six months and I saw what he meant. We’re all pleased his move has gone well in sporting terms. As a player he’s a star and as a person he’s a double star.
“There are two games against City. Each one has its share of importance. This one is just as important as the ones before it. We’re level on points and that’s how we go into the game. But I believe the two games will be equally important.”
Emery’s City counterpart Manuel Pellegrini suggested the fixture will see the ‘real Sevilla’ show up after some mixed results so far this season.
“We analyse every game, competition to competition. I see an evolution in the team,” Emery replied when asked about recent form.
“This game is something unique because we play with a European dimension at the highest level and we want to be competitive and to be protagonists.
“This is a competition we want to experience at that level of intensity. A draw might be good but we come here with the idea of winning.”
