Stoichkov ‘calm’ over Barca

Hristo Stoichkov has no qualms regarding Barcelona’s form as he looks ahead to El Clasico and offers a solution to calm unhappy Real Madrid fans.

Stoichkov appeared on Onda Cero’s Al Primer Toque programme and suggested a way to quieten down Madrid supporters who jeer their own team.

“It would be better if Madrid played without a Coach, to see if the fans are quiet then. Everyone has complaints, they don’t like anyone,” Stoichkov said, Marca reports.

“I don’t think it’s possible for Madrid to be six or eight points clear of Barca before Christmas. When you concede goals there are always doubts, but you have to look at how the last two games have gone.

“I don’t see anything to worry about for Barca and Madrid, they have a lot of points and the difference will be when they play each other.

“I’m calm about Barca because I know they will keep winning important things.

“I don’t doubt the quality Barca have. They’re still playing possession football, although that doesn’t win matches. I see a well prepared team, despite the injuries.

“Everyone’s talking about Neymar now but what I want is a team.”

The former Bulgaria international was also asked about UEFA and FIFA, and took aim at the continental and world governing bodies.

“UEFA is a house of incompetents. Barca have lost the strength of someone defending them against UEFA and FIFA,” Stoichkov continued.

“I don’t understand the sanction for the Esteladas. Why didn’t they take the Catalan flag from me at Wembley? I hope these people at FIFA who stain football go away already.

“When I said at Celta Vigo I was being called to buy matches, that there was a lot of money hidden behind the ball, nobody called me to say I was right.”
