Enrique expects ‘difficult’ game

Luis Enrique isn’t looking past the challenge of BATE Borisov, the Barcelona Coach pointing to their win over Roma as a warning.

BATE beat Roma 3-2 in Borisov and Enrique told a pre-match Press conference that a heavy Barca win in 2011 guarantees nothing when the sides meet on Tuesday.

“What happened four years ago is a long time in football and doesn’t serve as an example,” he said, Marca reports.

“The match against Roma is our reference. We expect a difficult game. We’re in one of the most competitive groups and we don’t expect anything to be easy.”

Enrique was also asked about how Barca are coping without the injured Lionel Messi, the performances of Sergi Roberto and the team’s defending.

“We try to act as a block, not look for someone to lead us,” he replied when it was suggested other players had stepped up to lead the team in Messi’s absence.

“We already have a leader, and it is Leo Messi.

“Sergi Roberto? Perhaps he hasn’t taken a step forward in other seasons because he hasn’t had the opportunity.

“I’m very happy he’s getting his reward and I encourage him to keep improving.

“There isn’t a problem just with the defence. It’s the whole team. We don’t stop analysing or evaluating. The solution has to be collective, without a doubt.

“In our last game I thought we solved the defensive problems despite conceding two goals. Those goals were more the result of their success than our errors.”
