Brazil legend Pele has hailed Lionel Messi as “the best player in the world of the past decade”, despite previously making such a claim about Neymar.
The 74-year-old is on record as saying that his countryman was better than Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, commonly regarded as the two outstanding talents of their generation, but he has now backtracked by confessing his awe for the Barcelona No 10.
“Messi is the best player in the world of the past decade,” he told O Rei.
“Many people compare Messi with Cristiano Ronaldo, but they're different players. They're both fantastic.”
