Simeone outlines Atleti vision

Diego Simeone has revealed that Atletico Madrid are “in the process of reinventing ourselves” with younger players.

Atleti have begun the season with the likes of Angel Correa, Luciano Vietto, Oliver Torres and Jose Maria Gimenez in their matchday squads, with Matias Kranevitter to follow in January, and the Coach says their inclusion is part of his vision for the club.

“[Correa’s] worked for and earned everything which is happening to him,” he told the Argentine media.

“There’s no age in football. He started against Real Madrid and wasn’t afraid, and before that he made his debut in the Champions League and scored a goal. He’s ready.

“He’s a unique player who has no fear, with speed, dribbling … It’s very difficult to find a player who can turn like him, especially in the box.

“We hope [Kranevitter] arrives in the best possible shape by doing very well at the Club World Cup [with River Plate].

“We’re working hard and in the process of reinventing ourselves with many young lads. They have to adapt and compete to our expectations.”
