Alvaro Arbeloa heaped praise on Real Madrid teammate Cristiano Ronaldo after his landmark brace against Malmo.
The goals took Ronaldo level with Raul as Los Blancos’ all-time top scorer, or one past the forward if Ronaldo is credited with a goal that officially went to Pepe.
“He’s surpassed Raul and we’re thrilled,” Arbeloa said, AS reports, accepting the alternative statistics that give Ronaldo 324 goals, not 323.
“What he’s done in half as many games as Raul is amazing. Nobody thought he could produce those numbers. He’s a myth and a legend of Real Madrid.
“We owe a lot to him as a player and we have to make him feel comfortable.”
Regarding the match itself, Arbeloa considered it a job well done against a difficult opponent.
“We knew Malmo are dangerous on their own ground and are good physically,” the defender said.
“It’s a victory that the team worked for. They defended very well tried to make use of the counter-attack.
“We had control of the ball in the first half but the second was more open.”
