Jonas wants another Calderon goal

Jonas hopes to repeat his 2012-13 visit to Atletico Madrid when with Valencia and score for Benfica in the Champions League.

The forward left Los Che and signed for Benfica in 2014, proving prolific thus far in Portugal, and spoke to the Press ahead of his return to Spain.

“Yes, I played for Valencia and that was a very nice game that season,” Jonas recalled, AS reports, when his goal at Vicente Calderon was brought up.

“I hope to score at the Calderon again. It’s a very good opportunity.

“Atletico are a very strong, aggressive team. We know how they play, they’re strong on the counter-attack and very strong in their stadium.

“We’ve been preparing well and it would be good to score points away from home.

“The game is hard, playing at the Calderon and only winning at home isn’t enough to go through to the next round.

“Diego Simeone? He’s revolutionised Atletico, and has a very competitive spirit. Cholo isn’t on the field but he prepares well and he’s a great Coach.”
