Angel Correa has spoken of his admiration for Diego Simeone after enjoying a bright start to his Atletico Madrid career.
The attacker followed up a series of promising cameos with his first goal for Los Colchoneros against Eibar last week, culminating in two successive call-ups to the Argentina squad, a year after he underwent heart surgery.
“Simeone is a very good Coach. He’s taught me so much already, as have all my teammates, but he particularly corrects me on a lot of things,” the 20 year-old said in a video posted on social media.
“I know that, because I’m still young, I still have to learn, but I also know that I will do so quickly under [Simeone’s] wing.
"I remembered what I went through at the time of my operation, before I returned to train and play.
“They were very hard times, but luckily I enjoyed my first game back and hopefully [my goal against Eibar] is the first of many for this shirt.
“I went to hug Fernando [Torres] for the pass he gave me [in the build-up to my goal]. I’m very happy because it helped us get three points.
“It’ll be very difficult [against Villarrea], but we also know that Atletico have done well [at El Madrigal] in recent years.
“We expect the game to be even but hope to get the three points.”
