‘Sevilla in constant reconstruction’

Unai Emery has suggested Sevilla’s ‘constant reconstruction’ is part of the reason for the Europa League winners' poor start to the season.

Los Rojiblancos have only two points from the first four games of the campaign, the same tally as their Wednesday hosts, newly-promoted Las Palmas.

“Las Palmas will want a first win at home but we have to be at our best to win. They’re a team with a Coach of a great trajectory,” Emery said, AS reports.

“They have quality players that we have to watch and they play with the need to give joy to their supporters.

“We’ve had two very busy days being proactive in analysing the games we’ve played and to find what makes us competitive, for improving the performance and the identity of the team.

“I’ve been through this process at Sevilla. Constant reconstruction, but results too. I’m very objective and I know the value of this squad.

“What do I say to having two points? I want to make the most of this team. Circumstances mean we are missing players. We didn’t have a left-back on Sunday.

“We have to put the best team on the pitch. The XI will change because players will be in better condition. We’re looking for an XI that will give us a performance.”
