Barcelona haven’t yet received in writing FIFA’s decision on their request to register Arda Turan, which has been reported as unsuccessful.
The Catalans are said to have asked the governing body for permission to play the midfielder under the law that allows for players to be registered outside the transfer window in the case of a long-term injury.
Rafinha’s season-ending ACL injury gave Barca the opportunity but FIFA are thought to have decided that the club’s transfer embargo is still in affect and therefore, the request has been denied.
Barca have taken the stance that the two-transfer window ban was served at the point the summer market closed, and are said to have legal advice to that end.
However, without getting a decision from FIFA in writing, Barca can’t decide on their next step, which may be to take the case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
