Diego Simeone admits the injury absence of Koke will affect the Atletico Madrid midfield and is considering further rotations.
Koke is a doubt not just for Tuesday’s game against Getafe but also the Madrid derby in early October after he suffered a thigh injury against Eibar.
“He’s a very important player for us. He is very complete. He can pass between the lines, he’s strong with set-pieces, does a lot for the team and he interprets perfectly what we need from the midfield,” Simeone told reporters, according to AS.
“But we are working well with other players, who are waiting for their chance.
“Gabi and Tiago are important players and I think their performances depend on the players around them.
“Tiago has different characteristics from Gabi. He’s more cerebral and Gabi is the best at pressing.
“We might combine them with Saul Niguez, Thomas Partey or Koke, when he’s healthy.
“Our position is to just think about the next game we play. I don’t want to keep players back for the sake of keeping them back. We just think about the next game we face.”
