Barca expect Arda disappointment

Barcelona have asked the RFEF and FIFA to register Arda Turan but one report says they expect to be disappointed.

The Catalans are understood to have made the request in light of Rafinha’s long-term injury, despite being barred from registering new signings until January 2016 as per the terms of their transfer embargo.

Barca are said to be arguing that their ban was for two transfer windows and having served it in January 2015 and the summer of the same year, it should be lifted.

FIFA aren’t thought to look kindly upon that stance, though, and say it will be January 4 when Barca can register players, and Mundo Deportivo write that Barca don’t expect their case to be supported by the world governing body.

It’s expected there will be at least 10 days before FIFA rule publically on the request which falls under Article 124, which allows for players to be registered to replace long-term injuries.

The report further adds, though, that Barca ‘don’t have high hopes’ but will go to the Court of Arbitration for Sport if they have to.

That could however see the case drag out until the end of the year, by which point Barca would soon be able to register both Turan and Aleix Vidal.
