David de Gea admits he endured “a different summer” in light of links with Real Madrid but insists he is ready to return for Manchester United.
The goalkeeper ended speculation about his future by signing a new contract with the Red Devils on Friday, just 10 days after his proposed move to Los Blancos collapsed.
“[There was] lots of speculation this summer but I kept doing my hard work,” he told MUTV.
“I’m relaxed and happy here and now have to look forward this season and we have to play well, win the games and hopefully we can win a trophy.
“It was a different summer, it’s true. But I kept my focus, kept calm and kept doing my hard work.
“I’ve trained really hard and I played with my national team, of course, so I feel ready and 100 per cent fit.
“We are Manchester United – one of the biggest clubs in the world.
“We are going to try to win everything. We know it’s difficult but we are Manchester United. We have to try to win every game and every trophy.”
