Gorka Elustondo believes Raul Garcia will add as much to Athletic Bilbao off the field as on it and welcomed the respite of the international break.
Garcia moved to San Mames from Atletico Madrid and Elustondo, also a summer signing – from Real Sociedad – believes he’s settled in well.
“The same happened to me, welcomed with open arms. He’s feeling very comfortable in the locker room and will contribute a lot,” Elustondo said, AS reports.
“He has a lot of experience, personality and character and will spread it to the group.”
Athletic have struggled at the start of the season, failing to win either of their two games and sitting bottom of the table at the international break, although they have progressed in the Europa League and claimed the Supercopa de Espana.
“The break’s done us good, after a busy August, we needed it physically and mentally,” Elustondo admitted.
“After losing to Eibar we needed a game quickly because you want to win as soon as possible, but we needed this break so we can recharge the batteries.
“We have to approach Getafe without going crazy, but knowing they’re three vital points. If we’re anxious we might go wrong. We can’t make mistakes our opponent will capitalise on, especially away from home.”
