Costa: I have to start scoring

Diego Costa knows he has to pull his weight after another scoreless Spain game – but the Chelsea striker was unaware he’ll be suspended for La Roja’s next match.

Costa was booked part-way through Tuesday’s win over Macedonia and as a result is banned for the game against Luxembourg.

“I’m suspended? That’s the first I’ve heard,” the former Atletico Madrid forward said, AS reports, when informed.

“I have a lot to improve and I have to start scoring goals. I’ve tried moving out to the wings.

“For my part, it’s not going to continue like this. I will keep working with my club to improve.

“I get really excited when I’m called by the national team. Personally, I’m not happy because I haven’t reached my objective, to score.

“But I am happy that Spain won. It’s an important three points for qualification.”
