De Gea to start for Spain?

David De Gea could make his first appearance of the season as rumours contend the Manchester United goalkeeper will play for Spain against Macedonia.

Iker Casillas took the gloves for Saturday’s win over Slovakia and Vicente Del Bosque has spoken of the possibility of changes for the trip to Macedonia, without confirming his team.

AS reports that ‘all indications are De Gea will start’ as Del Bosque looks to give De Gea a morale boost after a difficult summer.

De Gea’s desire to join Real Madrid was clear and the move looked like going through on transfer deadline day, only to break down as the window closed, leading to a war of words between the Red Devils and Los Blancos.

United manager Louis Van Gaal dropped De Gea from the match squad while his future remained unclear, keeping De Gea in the stands and fielding Sergio Romero.

AS add that Dani Carvajal and Cesar Azpilicueta are expected to play at right and left-back respectively, to give Juanfran and Jordi Alba a rest.

Pedro Rodriguez and Cesc Fabregas will also be given the night off, but not their Chelsea teammate Diego Costa.

Del Bosque wants Costa to keep playing for La Roja in an effort to find the fluency so far lacking in his international performances, the report suggests.
