Report: Sevilla tried for Fazio

Sevilla reportedly tried to re-sign Federico Fazio on loan from Tottenham Hotspur before taking Marco Andreolli from Inter.

Estadio Deportivo cites a report from Diario de Sevilla that claims Sevilla would have taken on the defender’s wages and paid a fee to his current club.

Fazio is said to have doubled his salary when leaving Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan for White Hart Lane a year ago.

The player was willing to return to his old stomping ground but Spurs wouldn’t agree a loan deal and instead wanted a permanent transfer at a cost of €10m, the same price they paid Sevilla.

It’s said the deal was ‘millimetres close’ to going through and Sevilla did everything they could to get an agreement, and Sevilla didn’t care that Fazio didn’t leave in the best circumstances in 2014.
