Kranevitter to Atleti on Wednesday

Matias Kranevitter should be an Atletico Madrid player on Wednesday after the River Plate midfielder picks up his EU passport from Italy.

AS report Kranevitter travelled from Buenos Aires to Madrid on Tuesday but it was only a fleeting visit to the capital, as he went straight from Spain to Italy to receive his documentation.

Kranevitter will undergo a medical on Wednesday and then finalise his Atletico contract, Los Colchoneros paying €8m for 70% of his rights.

Atletico will take the 22-year-old on a four-year contract with an escape clause set at €44m, but he won’t join up with Diego Simeone’s squad until January.

River Plate will keep Kranevitter for the rest of 2015 so he can take part in the Club World Cup in January.
