Line-ups: Valencia-Monaco

Nicolas Otamendi and Aymen Abdennour are the most significant absences from tonight’s Champions League playoff first leg between Valencia and Monaco.

The Argentine defender was omitted from Los Che's squad for the match, with the player understood to be nearing a €40m switch to Manchester City, while his rival's future continues to be the subject of links with his own move away.

Nuno Santo, meanwhile, opts for Matthew Ryan between the sticks, Antonio Barragan and Jose Luis Gaya in the full-back positions and Ruben Vezo replacing Otamendi in partnering Shkodran Mustafi at centre-back.

Further up the pitch, Enzo Perez shields Dani Parejo and Rodrigo De Paul in central midfield. while Rodrigo Moreno and Sofiane Feghouli support lone striker Paco Alcacer.

For Monaco, on the other hand, Layvin Kurzawa and Stephan El Shaarawy are both missing from the starting XI, although there are places for ex-La Liga loanees Mario Pasalic and Ivan Cavaleiro.
