Report: City in formal Pedro bid

Manchester City reportedly make a formal €32m offer to Barcelona for winger Pedro Rodriguez, who has told Manchester United to hurry up.

Catalan publication Sport says City have confirmed their interest in the United target after failing to sign first choice Kevin De Bruyne from Wolfsburg.

Pedro is City’s Plan B and, having lodged their approach with La Blaugrana, will now start speaking with the player about a move to the Etihad Stadium.

It’s thought City’s offer will force United’s hand and draw a bid from Old Trafford, the club having had representatives in Barcelona this week to talk about Pedro.

United allegedly told Barca they would this week make a final offer for the Spain international, who would prefer a move to United.

Barca have however stressed that Pedro will only leave if an offer triggering his escape clause is made and by going beyond the €30m stipulated fee, City have indicated their desire to get Pedro to their half of Manchester.

Mundo Deportivo say Pedro has given United 72 hours to make their move after coming to the conclusion United have doubts over his transfer.

If United don’t push the deal through then Pedro indicated he would remain at Camp Nou after Barca again rejected an offer of €25m and €5m in variables.
