Manchester City will pay Valencia €45m for Nicolas Otamendi, it’s believed, after renegotiating the deal without Eliaquim Mangala.
Mangala was initially to move to Mestalla on loan but turned down the switch, causing the clubs to go back around the table to hammer out an agreement.
The former Porto centre-back was part of the City team that beat Chelsea at the weekend and his performance impressed Manuel Pellegrini, leading the City manager to suggest Mangala could stay and fight for his place.
City and Valencia are said to have an agreement now for Otamendi and confirmation is expected soon.
