England ‘very bad’ for Soldado

Roberto Soldado is keen to make up for lost time after being presented by Villarreal, bringing an end to an unhappy time at Tottenham Hotspur.

Soldado struggled for goals after leaving Valencia for the Premier League team and now he is back in La Liga, he insists he is ready to show his best form.

“I have to thank Villarreal, the President and everyone from every part of the club who have made my arrival possible,” he said, AS reports.

“For me this is a very important step. I’ve been gone two years where I couldn’t give my best but I’m convinced I have many goals for Villarreal.

“I come with all the humility in the world, with all the enthusiasm in the world, and I’m eager to do a good job.

“I’m eager to help Villarreal go as far as possible, to have a great season and to meet our objectives.

“The summer was very calm, when I was in London and I heard of Villarreal’s interest the truth is we had an agreement very quickly.

“It was an opportunity to return to Spain, to join a great club, and so I didn’t have to think about it.

“From there it was waiting for the clubs to reach an agreement and luckily I can start the League.

“Villarreal is a very serious club, one that does things well and since I knew of their interest it was clear being close to home would help, but especially the project of the team, the coaching staff and the club, it made things very easy.

“The goal of Villarreal is to work and sacrifice, since that is what will take us farthest. My goal is to work, to live up to my teammates and help us go as far as possible.

“Valencia was a stage in my life were I gave my best. Now at Villarreal I want to overcome that. As I said, I have to work and sacrifice a lot.

“I’m looking forward to being who I was. It’s a challenge. The two years in England were very bad for me but I come here very positively, wanting to start over. I’ve got the hope of doing great things.

“I’m working well and I have to adapt fast but this is a team that knows what to do. I’m sure I’ll engage in what the team wants.

“It will be nice going back to Mestalla and that derby is always special. I received a lot of love at Valencia but it will be different now.

“I’m going step by step. My first goal is to earn a spot in the team and from there we’ll see about the national team.”
