Conflicting reports on Otamendi

One report claims Nicolas Otamendi is back in Valencia after his move to Manchester City collapsed while another says the transfer will be confirmed today.

Diario Mestalla reports the defender travelled back to Spain after Eliaquim Mangala rejected a move to Valencia in exchange for the Argentine going to City.

Without Mangala, Valencia are holding out for a fee of €50m, the report claims, having agreed to accept €40m plus Mangala for a year’s loan.

The Frenchman turned down Valencia, however, and Valencia are now insisting on the fee stipulated in Otamendi’s escape clause.

City and Valencia will keep talking, however, and the fee Valencia are paying for Alvaro Negredo could still be a factor.

Valencia have two instalments totalling €30m to meet for the striker, and Diario Mestalla suggest there will be further discussions in future.

Superdeporte, meanwhile, says Otamendi has passed a medical at City and the transfer will be announced at some point on Tuesday.

Mangala won’t be part of it and City will meet Valencia’s demands, the Valencia-based publication say.
