Andres Iniesta believes Barcelona were much the better side in the Supercopa de Espana second leg but lost the tie to Athletic Bilbao in the first meeting.

Athletic took a 4-0 win at San Mames and followed that up with a 1-1 draw at Camp Nou to claim their first trophy since 1984.

“Maybe we were lacking a goal in the first leg to create more doubt but there’s nothing to criticise the team for,” the captain said, SportYou reports.

“In the first leg we made too many mistakes and that made the game an uphill task. We were infinitely superior in the return.”

Iniesta added that he wasn’t overly concerned at missing out on the sextuple as what Barca have already achieved is still a remarkable feat.

“Very few teams win three or four trophies. In December we’ll be going for the fifth [the Club World Cup],” he argued.

“Until then we also have the first part of a season which will be very interesting.”
