Official: Soldado joins Villarreal

Villarreal have completed the signing of striker Roberto Soldado from Tottenham Hotspur for a reported €10m.

The 29-year-old has put pen to paper on a three-year contract and passed a medical with the Yellow Submarine, who had sought attacking reinforcements following the departures of Luciano Vietto, Giovani dos Santos.

Although the fee remains undisclosed by either club, Marca understands that Villarreal have paid around €10m for the Spaniard, who has 12 caps and seven goals for his country.

Soldado, formerly of Real Madrid, Osasuna, Getafe and Valencia, has already joined up with his new teammates in Gijon, where Villarreal are due to play their final pre-season friendly on Saturday.

He was one of Spurs’ seven, post-Gareth Bale arrivals in the summer of 2013 but only managed 16 goals in two seasons at White Hart Lane.
